Thailand was never supposed to become such a big part of my life. Like many people, I first went there for the experience, the sunshine, the adventure, and to see what the country was really like for myself. But from the moment I arrived, something about it felt different.
In the latest episode of the All About Thailand Podcast, I talk about my early experiences in Thailand and how those first trips slowly turned into something much bigger. I speak about Bangkok, Pattaya, the lifestyle, the culture, and the people I met along the way. It wasn’t just about holidays anymore — it became a place where I genuinely felt happy and comfortable.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the atmosphere. Bangkok had an energy unlike anywhere else I had ever been. Busy streets, food stalls everywhere, the sounds, the smells, and the pace of life all combined into something exciting and completely different from home in the UK.

Pattaya was another place that left a huge impression on me. Beyond what many people think of it, I found it to be a place full of life, characters, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. There was always something happening, and every day felt like an adventure.
I also talk in the podcast about learning some of the Thai language. Even knowing a few words made a massive difference. Thai people really appreciated the effort, and it helped me understand the culture much more deeply. It made everyday life easier and helped me connect with local people in a more genuine way.
After returning to the UK, I realised Thailand had really got under my skin. I missed the lifestyle, the weather, the food, and the atmosphere. Before long, I found myself wanting to return, and eventually I did — this time staying longer and beginning to build a life there rather than simply visiting as a tourist.
This episode is really a personal story about how Thailand slowly became home for me in many ways. It’s about adventure, taking chances, discovering a different culture, and finding happiness somewhere you never expected.

I think many people who have visited Thailand will understand exactly what I mean when I say there’s just something about the country that keeps pulling you back.
