Udon Thani is amazing

There are trips… and then there are those special moments that stay with you long after you’ve unpacked your bags. Our recent time in Udon Thani together with Kung and the team was absolutely one of those experiences.
From the moment we arrived, the energy of the city just pulled us in. Udon Thani has this wonderful balance — busy enough to keep things interesting, yet relaxed enough to really soak in the local atmosphere. It felt good to be back on Isan soil, and even better to be sharing it with great company.
One of our first stops was the beautiful . If you’ve ever visited, you’ll know exactly what I mean — wide open spaces, the lake shimmering in the morning light, and locals out walking, jogging, and just enjoying life. We took our time strolling around, filming some footage, and of course stopping for a well-earned iced coffee (you know me — cappuccino with caramel is never far away!).

Food, as always in Thailand, was a huge part of the adventure. Kung made sure we didn’t miss the local favourites, and honestly, every meal was a winner. From sizzling street food stalls to relaxed local eateries, we sampled some absolutely cracking dishes. The flavours in Isan cuisine are bold, punchy, and completely addictive — spicy som tam, perfectly grilled meats, and sticky rice that just hits the spot every single time.
We also spent time exploring the ever-popular area, which is always buzzing in the evenings. The night market vibe there is something special — live music in the background, rows of food vendors, and that unmistakable Thai evening atmosphere that’s hard to put into words but easy to fall in love with. It gave us some fantastic material and plenty of authentic moments to capture.
What really made this trip stand out, though, was the simple joy of being together — good conversations, plenty of laughs, and that shared passion for discovering Thailand beyond the obvious tourist trail. These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. It’s not just about the destinations; it’s about the people, the culture, and the stories we bring back to you.

Kung, as always, was an absolute star — making sure we experienced the real local side of things and keeping us well fed (very important!). The teamwork on this trip felt smooth, natural, and genuinely fun, which always shows in the final content.
We’ve come away from Udon Thani with full hearts, full stomachs, and plenty of exciting material that we can’t wait to share with you all very soon.
If you haven’t considered Udon Thani for your Thailand travels, honestly — put it on your list. It’s authentic, welcoming, and still feels like one of those places where you can experience the real rhythm of Isan life.
As always, thank you for being part of the journey with us. Your support for Lonely Traveler Productions and the All About Thailand family means everything and allows us to keep bringing you the sights, sounds, and stories from across this amazing country.
