Lonely Traveler Productions has run its All About Thailand special edition for several years now, and it’s a joy to see you getting involved—sharing life in an Isan village, introducing my wife Kung, and inviting others to subscribe and discover this corner of Thailand.

Nestled among rice paddies and low, languid hills, my Isan village moves at a pace that feels both timeless and kind. Here, mornings arrive with a chorus of birds and the soft clatter of motorbikes; evenings settle into long conversations over steaming bowls of tom yam and sticky rice.

Home and Hearth

Our home is simple but full of life. It sits near fields where farmers tend to rice, and neighbors stop by with home-cooked treats and news. My wife Kung is the heart of our household—her laughter, cooking, and kindness welcome everyone who comes our way.

Daily Rhythms

Days here begin early. We rise with the sun for prayers at the local temple, tend the small vegetable plot, and help with village tasks. Afternoons are slower: a siesta, mending nets, or chatting under the shade of the tamarind tree. Evenings bring the village together—markets, music, and shared meals that stretch long into the night.

Traditions and Festivals

Isan’s traditions are woven into daily life. We celebrate Bun Bang Fai (rocket festival) to call the rains, and Loy Krathong with floating lanterns that glint across the river. These rituals bind us to the land, the seasons, and each other.

Food and Flavors

Food is central to our life—sticky rice is a staple, and som tam (papaya salad), laap (spicy minced meat), and grilled fish are regular favorites. Kung’s cooking brings neighbors together; her recipes carry family stories and regional pride.

Inviting Others In

Lonely Traveler Productions’ All About Thailand aims to show the real Thailand beyond the guidebooks. By sharing our stories, photos, and videos, we hope to inspire more people to subscribe and experience Isan’s warmth for themselves.

If you’d like, I can expand this piece with personal anecdotes about Kung, step-by-step recipes, or a photo gallery to help readers feel truly at home in our village.
