Yesterday’s journey from Manchester to Bangkok was one of those travel days that reminds you exactly why we love doing what we do at Lonely Traveler Productions.
We started out at Manchester Airport with that familiar mix of anticipation and excitement. There’s always something special about departure lounges—the moment where the planning phase ends and the adventure actually begins. This trip felt even more significant because it’s part of our continuing connection with Thailand, a place that’s become central to both our content and our lives.
The First Leg – Manchester to Dubai
The first flight was a real highlight. We were lucky enough to be on the Airbus A380, which instantly made the journey feel like an event rather than just transport. The last time we flew on one of these was years ago with Thai Airways, so stepping back onto the A380 again brought back a lot of memories. There’s something about the size, the quietness in the cabin, and the overall smoothness that still makes it feel like one of the best long-haul aircraft in service.
Boarding was straightforward, and once settled in, that familiar long-haul rhythm kicked in—food service, cabin lighting changes, passengers settling down for the overnight stretch. For anyone who genuinely enjoys flying, this was one of those flights where you sit back and appreciate the experience rather than just counting the hours.
Dubai Stopover
We arrived in Dubai with only a short layover—just a few hours before the connecting flight. Even with the limited time, Dubai Airport always has that energy of a major global hub. It was enough time to stretch the legs, regroup, and mentally switch gears for the second leg of the journey.
Short stopovers like this are actually ideal when you’re trying to keep momentum on a long travel day—you don’t lose the flow, but you still get a break from the aircraft.
Onward to Bangkok
The second flight took us into Bangkok, and by that stage the excitement really builds. No matter how many times we make this journey, arriving in Thailand still carries that sense of familiarity mixed with adventure. It’s not just another destination—it’s somewhere with history, friendships, business connections, and a huge part of our storytelling.
Touching down felt like coming back to a place that’s been part of our journey for years.

Arrival and Settling In
After arrival, it was straight into the usual routine—checking into a hotel we’ve used for years, a place that holds a lot of personal history because we even lived in the apartment block above it at one point. Having that familiarity after a long travel day makes a massive difference. You already know the layout, the staff, the area—no stress, no guesswork.

One thing we always stay mindful of when arriving anywhere is connectivity and security. Some hotels auto-connect devices to Wi-Fi, which is convenient but not always ideal from a security perspective—so using a VPN is still part of our standard travel practice, especially when dealing with business accounts and production work.
Overall Experience
From start to finish, the journey was smooth, well organised, and—most importantly—enjoyable. The combination of the A380 experience, a quick but efficient Dubai transfer, and arriving back into Bangkok made it one of those travel days that reminds you why long-haul trips can still feel exciting rather than exhausting.
For us, this wasn’t just another flight—it was another step back into a country that’s deeply connected to our work, our stories, and the future plans for Lonely Traveler Productions.
Verdict:
A long day, yes—but a very good one. Smooth flights, a memorable aircraft, efficient connections, and the comfort of arriving somewhere that already feels like home.
