Ban Mae Homestays Where strangers become Family

Ban Mae is a quiet village tucked high in the hills of northern Thailand — a place where time moves gently and the air always carries a hint of something sweet. Here, centuries-old tea trees grow in the forests that surround the village, their leaves picked and dried by local families just as they have been for generations.

Staying in Ban Mae means choosing a homestay over a hotel — and that makes all the difference. You won't find check-in counters or room keys here. Instead, a local family opens their wooden home and says: come in, stay with us. You sleep in a simple, comfortable room in their house, eat meals prepared from fresh, local ingredients, and wake each morning to the quiet rhythm of village life.

In the early hours, mist drifts between the tea bushes and settles soft and white over the valley. As it clears, villagers head out into the plantations, carrying baskets, chatting gently, their laughter carrying across the slopes. Later, you'll sit with them on wooden verandas, sipping tea grown right where you're standing — rich, warm, and completely unlike anything you find in the cities.

Ban Mae isn't somewhere you rush through. It's somewhere you breathe deeper, slow down, and remember that the very best places in the world aren't measured in how many things there are to see — but in how welcome you feel.
